Rust Software Engineer

We think Rust is the best language for new systems software! Our core platform is all in Rust, from microservices in our distributed control plane to our high-performance data services. Everything we do is built on Linux and we are rethinking how control and data planes are built on modern programmable kernels using eBPF, Wireguard, io_uring, and other such features. We think using these from Rust gives us the best balance of performance and safety for our customers. And it is a lot of fun too!

You will love this job if

  • You love Rust!
  • You have beaten your head against web infrastructure and distributed systems and won!
  • You know how to balance rapid development with long-term code maintainability and supportability.
  • Your range of experience with frontend, backend, machine learning, or full-stack is one of your superpowers.
  • You are an experienced debugger unfazed by the firefighting needed when production environments are in flames.
  • You are detail-oriented and and passionate about creating an awesome user experience.
  • You are comfortable with a variety of modern software frameworks and learn new tools as a matter of course or just for fun.
  • You put EQ above ego and focus on team success helping your team members through code reviews.

Forward Deployed Engineer

Remote position, but the candidate needs to be available during US working hours (UTC-5, UTC-6, UTC-7, or UTC-8).

As a forward deployed engineer at Seaplane, you work directly with customers and the customer team. Your goal is to quickly understand the customer's needs and pain points and design and implement solutions using Seaplane technology. You are an expert in taking general customer requirements and identifying quick wins and executable POCs that show the value of Seaplane.

Your day-to-day consists of calls with new prospective customers. Writing proof of concept proposals based on customer feedback and helping new customers implement and find value with Seaplane. You will use your expert knowledge of cloud engineering and system design to help customers with their most important multi-region, multi-cloud, and edge cloud challenges.

The forward-deployed engineer is part of the customer team. We are a small but mighty team that continually learns and iterates to achieve the best results. You will have the opportunity to contribute and help build the foundation for rapid growth for the company, our customer team, and yourself.

We’d especially love to hear from you if you have

  • Prior experience working as a DevOps engineer or cloud architect.
  • Understanding or experience with modern application architectures and cloud-native development practices.

Python Infra Engineer

We are giving the cloud back to creators through a global application platform built for developers and makers. Scaling should be a cause for celebration, not a cause for panic. We remove the pain and complexity of scaling out your apps, so you can spend less time managing infrastructure and more time developing better software.

Better developer experiences and positive user experiences are not mutually exclusive. We believe that creators should be free from the pain and complexity of managing cloud infrastructure, so they can focus on what matters: improving their apps. Seaplane brings the joy back to shipping apps and unlocks the cloud's true potential.

About the role:

We build and operate high-traffic distributed systems on public clouds such as AWS, GCP, Azure, as well as our own global deployments in PoPs around the world and at the edge. As a Infra Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our service development and reliability, building shared infrastructure used by the whole organization, and spreading best practices throughout our engineering team.

You will love this job if

  • You’re motivated by high-impact projects, and enjoy digging deep into fundamentally challenging engineering problems as well as immediate practical needs affecting our business.
  • You’ve built homegrown tools from scratch to help with weaknesses in software delivery or incident management and explain their benefits to others on the team.
  • You recognize when you’re dealing with a problem repeatedly and will automate a solution.
  • You’ve worked on large-scale distributed systems, performance, security, and microservice-based architectures.
  • Your expertise is in database/data warehouse performance and operational management is across a variety of technologies and you’re always curious about new areas.
  • In fact, whatever your expertise, you’re happy to step outside your comfort zone and learn more.
  • You want to make developers love Seaplane.
  • You put EQ above ego and focus on team success and growth.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
